Put your future in your own hands with a certificate in massage therapy.

History of the School of Massage Therapy at SOLEX Medical Academy

In 1995, SOLEX Computer Academy was launched as a private business and vocational school focused on delivering hands-on training in information technology. It received its operational license from the Illinois State Board of Education, Private Business and Vocational Schools unit. In 2001, SOLEX Computer Academy became SOLEX Academy with an expanded menu of instructional programs to better respond to the training needs of employers and students. The curriculum included nine computer and business technology courses plus English-as-a-Second Language, basic nurse assistant training and a 510-hour massage therapy program.

In 2004, the decision was made to separate the technology and medical programs to foster niche growth opportunities and formed SOLEX Medical Academy. SOLEX Medical Academy received approval from the Illinois State Board of Education in June 2004 to operate as a private business and vocational school offering a 600-hour massage therapy program. It is a separately incorporated L-Plus Corporation, operating under a local business license issued by the City of Wheeling.

April of 2006 marked yet another evolution leap for SOLEX Medical Academy as it earned COMTA accreditation. This was a huge achievement for the school that will call for holding to the highest industry standards stipulated by the Commission.

SOLEX Medical Academy expanded the massage program in January of 2010 to become a 720-hour program.

The growth and success of SOLEX Medical Academy and its programs is very much a part of SOLEX's business and strategic planning.
