Student Clinic Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a massage?
A: Massage is manual manipulation of soft tissue used for medicinal or relaxation purposes. 

Q: What should I wear?
A: Wear clothing that is easily removable and comfortable.  You may be asked to remove jewelry. Make-up is discouraged.

Q: What level of undress must I achieve for massage?
A: You will be asked to be disrobed to your level of comfort.  Any covered areas will not be able to be addressed by your student therapist.

Q: What is the difference between a student massage and a professional massage?
A:

  • Students are still learning the art and science of massage therapy. 
  • Students are monitored during student clinic by a licensed professional massage instructor.
  • The clinic is semi-private. Partitions and curtains are utilized for privacy, but also provide access to the instructor.

Q: What should I expect after the massage?Clinic FAQ
A:

  • You should feel relaxed and revitalized.
  • You may feel drowsy.
  • You will be advised to drink water to aid in flushing the system.
  • You will be asked to fill out an evaluation and pay for your treatment if you didn't already prepay.

Q: What kinds of lubricants are used?
A: We utilize hypo-allergenic, perfume-free lotions.
